Abstract
The right to education is devoted to each human being in search of allowing him to acquire knowledge, practices and behaviours in the aim of a best integration in the society. In 1998, the percentage of the national gross school enrolment in Cote d'lvoire represents 72% but there are serious gender gaps. The national gross enrolment of girls is 62% as against 83.5% for boys. The origins of this social and cultural disparity are poverty of families, some traditional ceremonies, early sexual/practices, teenage pregnancies, the distance of schools, the decision which belongs to parents to send or not their child to school , discriminations in home tasks, the negative image of school considered as non valued and non lucrative activity for some parents.
To all these factors can be added social values based on mentalities and developed in the society and by the society. The reduction of gender gap is necessary in the sense of a best participation of women who play an important and principal role in the society by applying in every day life knowledge about health, nutrition, environment and hygiene. The effectiveness of the reduction of gender gap is only possible by the application of specific strategies in the field of formal, non formal, informal, inclusive education based on the objective of education for all.
