Abstract

The aim of the symposium is to explore ways of improving communication between writers, editors and readers through the processes of journal publication. Are journals responsive to authors' differing needs? Do the range of journals in inclusion and SEN facilitate communication between researchers, practitioners and other interested parties as well as they could? Are the needs of those in initial and advanced training fully met? How can editors, referees and advisory boards most effectively support new and established authors? Will the innovation of electronic journal publishing alter the relationship between writers and readers? Will it enrich their communication or merely add to their burdens? Editors and contributors of the major UK and European journals in this field will initiate a wide-ranging discussion of these and other questions about the current pressures and future possibilities of journal publication.
