Abstract

Many children in Palestine live in a very poor environment where many of their basic needs are not met. Although rehabilitation services for such a group of children have greatly improved in the last decade, the majority still cannot reach get access to these services. One of the main reasons behind this is the negative attitude that exists among many family and community members towards these children. On the other hand, many other children with disabilities are experiencing good quality of care where the attitudes of those who live with them are positive. As a tool to change family's negative attitudes towards these children and to show their positive ones, an educational and documentary film was recently made which is the first of its kind in the country. The film shows a few examples of children with disability who are very well cared for and loved, and a few others who are treated unfairly mainly due to issues related to the existing culture, beliefs, customs and ethics. The film has been made in a way that maintains the dignity and humanity for all involved.
