Abstract
Special education teachers and support personnel have been coming across various roles in Turkey in the late 1900's. One of these roles is working with family members of special needs children. The symposium is planned to include four papers. Content of each paper is presented below:
1. Parents of special needs children: What it is like to be a parent of a special needs child in Turkey will be discussed. Presenter: Sema Batu.
2. Small Steps Early Intervention Program for Developmentally Delayed Children: Small Steps Program and consultation services provided to the parents involved in the program will be introduced. Presenter:

4. Opinions of Parent Consultants About Small Steps Program Implemented in Anadolu University: Results of a qualitative study conducted with 17 parent consultants will be presented. Presenters: Yildiz Uzuner and Yasemin Ergenekon.
