Ludmila Krapivina - Moscow State Pedagogical University, Russia

Abstract

The early correction of stuttering has most profound results. Never the less there is a very little number of methods of developing correct speech with the children who stutter. Our practical experience and the theoretical knowledge give us a possibility to share methods of speech therapy with the children who start to stutter in early childhood.

Children need to have a medical psychological test before we are starting to work with him, it helps us to divide die children into two groups of 'neurotic' and 'neurotic like' form of stuttering.

Due to our experience we consider that the following needs special attention:

1. The fine muscular motor movement of fingers and the motor movement of articulation plus general motor movement.
2. Phonation briefing as a base of the speech briefing
3. Intonation in speech.
4. The development and organization of vocabulary and grammatical forms.
5. The development of the dialogic speech.

Speech therapy with the children in early childhood should be complex. Thus including musical and PT lessons, relaxation training as well as the traditional work. The time of work with the children should be about 10- 15 minutes. After the completing the work the results are different between the groups of 'neurotic' and 'neurotic like' children. In case of 80% of children in the 'neurotic' group stuttering is disappearing and only in 60% in case of 'neurotic like' children.
