
Abstract
This paper outlines an approach to teaching spelling, developed by the author, which allows all children to learn together regardless of their ability. It outlines the underlying thinking behind 'The Complete Spelling Programme' designed to improve spelling through enhanced auditory and visual processing. This programme allows children with learning difficulties to learn alongside their peers through a unique approach to differentiation and innovative teaching strategy. The spelling programme has developed as a result of a complex and exhaustive curriculum development process which started in my own classroom in 1987.
