
Abstract
The welfare of exceptional persons is a collective responsibility of Government, Non-governmental Organisations (NGO) and individuals. This cooperative effort is however not restricted to the exceptional persons only, rather it is an all inclusive affair. In Oyo Area of Oyo State in the Federal Republic of Nigeria, disabled persons receive attention however limited it is. This paper highlights the parents and community efforts to the education of exceptional persons, evaluates these efforts and finally offers suggestions for improved services to the disabled.
