Abstract
The current situation in Russian society is predictive of a further increase of the phenomenon of social orphans in children and adolescents due to such important factors as a long-term Russian political and social crisis, deteriorating ecological situation, global impoverishing of common people, high increase of medical costs, poor social services, absence of real community awareness and help, lack and ineffectiveness of preventive programs, decrease of morality, especially in youth, dramatic increase of crime rate, and active contribution in popularisation of violence and aggression by mass media. Psychological deprivation, low self-esteem, learning disabilities, psychiatric disorders, externalising and internalising problems, lack of social skills, and of parental supervision, parental and school rejection, and poverty lead children and adolescents to different forms of antisocial behaviour.
