Abstract
Results of five-year experimental work in centre of labour training of handicapped children checked the efficiency of this idea. For the handicapped, "labour" has a wider meaning and includes not only productive labour, but also unproductive labour, sports and culture activity, leisure and home-keeping. The structure and contents of labour training of handicapped children should be differentiated depending on the children's impairments, disability and handicaps, rehabilitation potential and labour prognosis.
The results of five-year experimental work with more then one hundred and fifty children involved checking the efficiency of the concept. The children become more confident. They have now many friends and communicate more freely. Graduates have chosen their way: many of them entered professional schools or high schools. Those possessing the heaviest disability found ways to engage in work at home. At the moment the concept takes roots in other rehabilitation institutions.
