
Abstract
Recent studies have provided positive perspectives for normally hearing mother and hearing impaired child interactions. However, these results cannot be generalised. Therefore, further studies are needed to be conducted with more families.
Purpose: To compare the interactional behaviours of two normally hearing Turkish mothers and their preschool age hearing impaired children in different contexts.
Design: A qualitative multi-case study.
Data Collection: Field notes, interviews, audio and video tape recordings.
Subjects: Two normally hearing mothers and their sons with severe bilateral sensorineural hearing losses who are educated auditory-verbally at preschool level.
Data analysis: Micro ethnographic analyses have been employed.
Conclusion: The results have been discussed to provide advices for mothers of hearing impaired children and future research.
